ABOUT ME
My name is Liza Moracz. I decided to create a website on the topic of Sports
Injuries. When I was 16 I hurt my neck when playing soccer. I collided with another girl, and landed on my side, injuring my neck. I had played soccer my entire life, but this injury took forever to heal the first time. I went through months of physical therapy just to find myself back in the same place. After I had healed and attended two soccer practices, I was involved in a car accident. I was hit from behind at an impact so intense that my vertebrae slipped and I blacked out. The most devastating outcome of the accident was having my passion, soccer, taken away. The sport I loved the most had now become a risk to my lifestyle. The purpose of this website is to allow people to share their personal stories on how an injury affected their sports life, and to become more educated on injury prevention/awareness.

Personal stories
Here is where I will post stories told to me by friends, family, or others about injuries they have gone through in their life and things they have done to prevent them. These personal stories are helpful for others who are going through the same struggles!
EMMA :
Emma injured herself when she was 16 during a soccer game. Her knee dislocated when she collided with another player on the field. "I heard it pop." she said. After being rushed to the hospital, Emma was informed that she would need surgery on her knee. She was rushed in. After her surgery she was on crutches for 4 weeks. She also could not play soccer for a few months. Recovery was a long and slow process. Even after she was cleared to play again her game wasn't what it use to be. Every step for Emma was more painful than it had been before.
JAKE:
Jake was playing in his lacrosse game one day in high school. He was sprinting down the field when he felt his knee give out. Immediately he fell to the ground. He had to be carried off the field and taken right to the hospital. Jake tore his ACL and MCL and his meniscus. He had to have surgery right away. After surgery, Jake had to go through nine months of physical therapy. After that he slowly began walking long distances without assistance, then running. After eleven months, he was cleared to play again. Even though he had a minor setback, he was able to go back to lacrosse. His game was never the same, but he was able to play the sport he loved.
MELISSA:
Melissa has danced her whole life. She was at a dance rehearsal once and was doing a pirouette and leap, but she landed wrong. Her whole dance team heard a snap. She had to be rushed to the emergency room and was in a cast for months. After the cast, she wore a boot for three weeks while she did physical therapy. Her comeback to dancing was possible because of the stretches and therapy she has to practice before she dances now. "Dynamic stretching is extremely important," Melissa stated. Her dancing was delayed, but with the right knowledge on rehabilitating her foot, she is able to continue her passion in dance.
